This week students of each grade level attended a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) assembly. Students were reminded about ACES PBIS, while also engaging in the signing of the school song. We encouraged families to support the ACES PBIS at home and to also belt out the school song! The PBIS and School Song are located on the PTA website, but you can find a refresher below.

Animals in Classrooms
Many of our classrooms introduce animals as educational resources (for example fiddler crabs for habitat studies in fourth grade). If you do not want your child to be exposed to certain animals in the classroom, please complete and return the following form to your child's teacher (you may also request a paper form from the office): http://goo.gl/zO2OsI
AIG Nomination Window
The Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) testing window is open for the first semester until October 7th. If your child is in 4th or 5th and grade and is performing significantly above grade level in ELA and/or math, please contact Kristen Argent (email@example.com) for more information.

We know that beginning of Kindergarten can bring many emotions for both parents and students. While we know our teachers will take great care of your little ones when school starts, we also know that you might have some questions. The PTA is here to support you.
Please join us for Tissues and Tears on Tuesday 9/2, just drop in to the Media Center after you walk your child in on the first full day of Kindergarten. We will be there from 8:45am to 9:15am.

Answer your phone! 2016-2017 1st through 5th grade teacher phone calls have started! As a reminder, class lists will be posted at the school by 3pm tomorrow and meet the teacher is on Friday from 11am to 1pm.
Kindergarten staggered entry begins next week, with Meet the Teacher set for 9/2 from 4:45pm to 5:45pm. Parents/Guardians will receive phone calls from Kindergarten teachers prior to Meet the Teacher.
Remember, it is encouraged that you bring your school supplies with you to Meet the Teachers. You will also be able to sign up to be a member of the PTA. This years membership fees are $10 per person.
Welcome Back Abbotts Creek Faculty!
The Hospitality Committee had a great morning showering our teachers and staff with breakfast goodies and surprises. We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to all the parents that made the welcome back breakfast a delicious success!
This year, with all donated supplies, the committee was able to provide each staff member with a personalized survival kit and reusable bin for their room.This was a great way to kick off the year and give our staff ongoing reminders of how much we appreciate them.
We also announced our classroom support plan for the year, which will allow teachers to get financial support for their classrooms.
Several teachers joined the PTA this morning and will be the first recipients of this years ACES koozie. Parents will have the opportunity to join at Meet the Teacher events and the schools Open House and will also receive a koozie until supplies run out. Membership fees this year are $10 per person.

The Welcome Back Faculty Breakfast will be hosted on Monday Aug 22nd. Lauren Jones is coordinating this event and is finalizing details at this time. The sign up sheet is posted here. Items needed are (1) Sweet breakfast casserole (2) Large fruit tray (3) Coffee (4) Starbursts and (5) Sterlite boxes.
