"Making Great Gators"
Our No Fuss "Making Great Gators" campaign kicks off October 1st and we need your support. The focus of our fundraising this year is to maintain in-classroom technology, provide classroom furniture and supplies, support our teachers and staff, install our outdoor learning spaces and to bring in amazing cultural arts performances, while helping to provide an exceptional learning environment for ALL of our students.
Our goal is to raise $30,000.00 by the end of October. Click HERE to donate NOW or turn in your donation enveloper to your teacher.
At the end of our campaign, on October 26th, our students will participate in our Fall Fun Run & Health Challenge event. This event is sponsored by the PTA and teachers, staff and parents will encourage our students to have fun and be great while running laps round the track, performing various exercises and working together as classes to accomplish elements of our Fun Run & Health Challenge.
100% of your donation stays at ACES – we don’t lose money to vendors. We are a 501(3)(c) organization so it’s also tax deductible. If your company participates in corporate matching – let us know and we’ll do the legwork to make that happen. We have also enrolled with Benevity to make this process much easier with major corporations.

Our students deserve the best public schools and teachers! We want great families and teaches to stay in NC public schools. Do you understand the impacts of the class size mandate coming down from our state legislature?
What is the class size mandate?
In 2018-2019 the maximum individual K-3 class sizes will drop from 24 students to between 16 and 18 students, depending on grade level.
For more detailed information on how this mandate came about, click here.
**Check your 2018-2019 Enrollment**
Look up your address, then review your proposed 2018-19 base assignment and application schools to see if you are proposed to be affected. Watch this page for updates on the proposal.
Aren't smaller class sizes a good thing?
On the surface, dropping class size numbers seems like a great idea. But when the mandate has no funding behind it, there is no money to hire more teachers or, more importantly, create more actual classroom space. In Wake County alone, this mandate would create the need for 400 extra classrooms county-wide; equivalent to 14 NEW elementary schools.
Who is impacted?
Anyone with a child in a NC public school
The legislature didn't properly fund the mandate to cut class size in the lower grades so that much-needed physical education, arts, music, and language instruction wouldn’t be eliminated.
Space for smaller classes was not accounted for, so some classes may be split
or forced to meet in makeshift locations.
Talk to your NCGA representatives: Who represents you?
Share your concerns about class size mandates not being funded appropriately. This only puts the class size problem on grades
4th - 12th.
Discuss community and school disruption related to the new
enrollment proposal that WCPSS has had to put in place due
to the unfunded mandate.
Encourage / Demand waivers for WCPSS so that the mandate can be relaxed.
Express the need for not cutting budget and ensuring proper
payment to veteran teachers and principals.
Talk to your friends, co-workers, neighbors and social media
groups. Educate them on what is happening in the NCGA.
