A message from Mrs. Reynolds:
My students need a classroom set of drums to energize our music class!
My StudentsPlaying the drums is great fun! No matter your ability level, it’s a highly enjoyable way to build community, release stress and learn rhythmic skills all at the same time!
I work at a wonderful new elementary school in North Carolina. Our school serves a diverse group of students who are eager to learn and excited to be in a new facility. Our school just opened and all the students will be coming from many different schools in the county. Adjusting to the new building, schedule and new friends will be a challenge at first but having new resources that engage students will help them feel part of our new community. Students attend music class once or twice a week for 45 minutes.
My ProjectParticipating in a music classroom with a variety of instruments allows students to be engaged in rigorous and meaningful music learning. Students will be learning rhythms, creating music, performing for peers and accompanying songs with the new drums. When participating in a drumming circle students are listening to each other, taking risks, getting to know one another, and collaborating to create a musical experience. In addition, students are learning about world music and culture through rhythms and music from around the globe. These are all skills to prepare my students to reach their full potential and lead meaningful productive lives in a diverse world.
These Tubanos and Djembes are durable and easy to maintain instruments that will be enjoyed by thousands of students for many years to come.Drumming can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their musical ability. It is a great way to build self esteem, reduce stress, explore world cultures and build community.

ACES Fall Fun Run and Health Challenge is set for October 30th during school hours. This will be our largest student led and parent supported fundraising event (goal of $40k - no split with outside vendor). 100% of the funds raised staying with our school, our teachers, and our students. Fundraising campaign will be from October 2nd-30th and culminate with fun health-filled activities for the children to participate in on Friday, October 30th during a small portion of their school day. More information will be shared closer to the kickoff - questions can be directed to Jill Kuhn, Fun Run Lead (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Hopefully everyone saw the latest PTA newsletter and noticed we are having a "Fun Family Fundraiser" during the school day on Friday, October 30. It will be a fun run/walk type event. We are looking for volunteers to help with day of responsibilities (extended shifts for set up, clean up, etc. and also shorter shifts where you could stay with your child's class). Please contact Tina Gordon if you are interested in learning more volunteer opportunities once details are available. Mark your calendars for October 30!
